Three Virginia Counties Collaborate in Setup of Several Emergency Advisory Station Groupings

Northrop Grumman and ISS during late 2007 and early 2008 produced and installed some of the largest ALERT AM systems to date in 3 counties surrounding Richmond, Virginia. Chesterfield and Hanover Counties, each with 7 stations, use Wireless Audio Links to synchronize broadcasts. Goochland County uses a sideband signal generator at 7 locations. All 3 counties use Workstation Audio Control PCs to produce/send broadcasts. Customers say they are pleased with how “smooth and clean” the installations went. The real proof? Already the systems have been used to broadcast notices of brush fires, a 911 outage and ice storms that caused power outages. And the Counties are ordering more ISS products.

Comments from Northrop Grumman regarding the project:

Thank you much, Tom and Bill. It was a pleasure dealing with folks that know their business and get it done.

Thank you again.
